Unravelling Music is a journey towards expanding your horizons as a listener while learning how to identify and appreciate the elements of different music.
In the Unravelling Music course, you will trace music back to its origins when humans started percussing with stones and water. You will explore the evolution of music through the years and the historical context and influences surrounding it.
The course introduces the building blocks of music — melody, rhythm, and harmony—and the roles they play. You will learn about tonality, sequences and patterns, and structure and texture in music.
The exploration of Western and Indian classical music will enable you to identify the similarities in the elements of both. A few sessions will discuss notable composers and examine the different genres of music.
The sessions are focussed on listening with theory as the undertone. You will be able to listen to your favourite pieces of music and find new meanings within them.
This is a brief overview of the course and does not include details of the entire syllabus. For more information, reach out to us.
