When students are just starting out, we use the Suzuki method to teach western classical pieces. These are used to impart the essential techniques needed to play the violin.
For the first few weeks, we focus on exercises to master posture, bow hold, and finger dexterity on violin replicas. This avoids damage to instruments since students are prone to dropping them frequently in the beginning. Once students are comfortable with these, they start learning to play.
Each class includes a listening period, where students spend time listening to the music they are about to learn. In the Suzuki method, the musical pieces are carefully selected to cover essential techniques. Each piece is a building block to equip students with the skills needed to play a variety of music.
Once students have learned to play the initial few pieces, we introduce popular songs that they already know to give them a break from the standard curriculum. After mastering the basics, students can choose whether to continue with the Suzuki method or learn another genre of music.
Theoretical concepts like staff notations and scales are introduced once the student has sufficient command over their instrument.
This is a brief overview of the course and does not include the entire syllabus. For intermediate and advanced students, we pick up from what they already know. Reach out to us for details.

The Suzuki method is a system that teaches students how to play music the same way they learn to speak their native language. This is also called the mother-tongue approach.
We don’t learn our mother tongue by starting with the alphabet, grammar, and syntax; we learn by listening to our parents and grandparents speak. This approach applies to learning music too.
The Suzuki philosophy uses listening, imitation, and repetition to teach music and with this, anyone can learn to play an instrument. Parents are actively involved in the first few months of learning and become “home-teachers”, helping children to effectively learn.
The Suzuki violin curriculum is divided into 10 books, each with a curation of pieces.
